I’m writing this from a hotel room in Sacramento while Ayo is presenting her film in Los Angeles. Last week we drove down the Pacific coast, heading from Eugene to Sacramento and we are en route to San Francisco (mid-November), after which we’ll keep heading south toward San Diego (late December).
While rainy, foggy, and at times ridiculously full of windy (WHINE-dee, not WHIN-dee) roads, the drive was stunning and we stopped many times to enjoy the natural beauty along the way such as:
- A herd of grazing Elk
- The redwoods
- Art galleries
- Rock climbing on the beach
- Expansive ocean views
When we arrived in Sacramento and checked into our hotel (an occasional break from the RV) we visited California’s capitol building and went out for vegan Mongolian (?!) food. There’s the update on where we are!

Pics are amazing – sounds incredible!
Thanks! It was a pretty long haul, but we beat out a lot of the rain and it was totally worth it.
Very nice! Beach looks spectacular. I already miss the beaches… π
I gotta say, though, US-395 is one hell of a pretty route to be on.
would love for you guys to stop at The Lab when you are passing through San Francisco!!
Hey Matt! We’ll be driving toward San Fran this weekend, and should be in the Bay area for a little while. Would love to meet up. Shoot us an e-mail (ourtakeonfreedom@gmail) and we’ll make it happen.
Wow, you guys have THE LIFE! Very inspiring, I really hope to do it someday when baby gets older…
C’mon! I know of two RVer families with infants π
Stunning!
